Shipping & Delivery

  • How long will it take to receive my order?
    You will receive your order within 15 business days from the day of placing the order. We hope to be able to send you your special package before 15 days but that's the maximum time we expect for the package to reach you.
  • Do you ship internationally?
    Not at the moment. But we are working towards making that happen soon enough, so stay tuned. Connect with us on Twitter and on Facebook for all updates.
  • How much do I have to pay for delivery?
    Absolutely nothing. Shipping is free.
  • How can I track my order?
    Your order status is updated via emails at every step. If you are having problems with your order, contact us immediately on the following numbers- 022-65560703 or 022- 65561111. Once the order is shipped from our warehouse, an email is sent to you containing the tracking number and the name of the service provider. Type the tracking number in the tracking section on the website of the service provider and the order status would be provided to you.
  • What if I am not at home when my package arrives?
    Our shipping partner will leave a notice at your address notifying you of an alternative delivery or pick-up arrangement.
  • My items haven't arrived yet. What do I do?
    Give us up to 15 days for delivery from the day you received the order confirmation. If you haven't received your order after 15 days, contact us immediately by email or by calling us at the following numbers- 022-65560703 or 022- 65561111.

    If, for any reason, our shipping partner cannot reach you, we will provide you with the instructions to collect the product(s) directly from our shipping partner. In these situations, Crude Area reserves the right to cancel the sale contract, in which case, we will fully refund you the purchase amount or issue store credit as preferred.
  • How do I change my shipping address after my order has been placed?
    You need to contact us by email for any changes in shipping address within 24 hours of placing the order. This will need to be intimated to us via the same email id associated with the order.

Refund & Cancellation

  • Can I cancel my order?
    Every Crude Area print is made-to-order just for you. Once the order is received, our team starts working on it. We're sorry but you cannot cancel/change the order after you've placed it.
  • What if my order is broken, damaged or torn?
    If the order is broken, damaged or torn, we promise to exchange the art for another print of equal or lesser value. Write to us at orders@crudearea.com with the order ID and your contact information, listing the details of the damage and a Crude Area customer care representative will contact you shortly after.
  • What if I want a refund instead of replacement?
    If the order is broken, damaged or torn, we will give you store credit which you can use to make another purchase from our website within the next three months. In certain cases, we'll do our best to issue a full refund.
  • Can I use my store credit in installments across different orders?
    Yes, absolutely! You may do so, up to your credit limit.

Payment

  • What are the different modes of payments?
    Crude Area offers you multiple payment methods. Whatever your online mode of payment, you can be rest assured that Crude Area's trusted payment gateway partners use secure encryption technology to keep your transaction details confidential at all times.

    You can pay through all major credit cards (including American Express) and debit cards (including Maestro cards) issued by Indian banks. You can also use Internet Banking and Cash on Delivery (only available in select cities) to make your purchase.
  • What is Cash on Delivery?
    If you feel uncomfortable making an online payment on Crude Area's website, you can opt for the Cash on Delivery (CoD) payment method instead. With CoD, you can pay in cash at the time of actual delivery of the product at your doorstep, without making any advance payment online.
  • Do I have to pay any extra charges for Cash on Delivery service?
    Yes. There is a nominal charge ranging from Rs 75 to Rs 300 (or more) depending on your order value and location.
  • COD option is not offered for my city/pincode on your website. Why?
    Our current logistics partner does not include your area/city/pincode in their list of cities where COD is offered, as they don't have the facility or infrastructure to cover your area yet. As a result, there are certain areas/cities/pincodes that we do offer COD to, as part of this process. Deliveries to such areas may hence be temporarily affected, before we are able to resume the same. We promise to fix this soon.
  • Can I use my bank's netbanking feature to make a purchase on Crude Area?
    Yes!
  • Is it safe for me to use my credit/debit card on your site?
    All credit card and debit card payments on Crude Area are processed through a secure and trusted payment gateway. It is absolutely safe for you to use your credit/debit card on the Crude Area website.

  • What different types of artwork do you exhibit?
    If you want to be spoilt for choice, you've come to the right place. Crude Area is the destination for some of the coolest graphic art you're likely to find online. You can either browse through categories like abstract art, graffiti or illustrations or through the line-up of Crude Area artists.
  • How is artwork chosen for Crude Area?
    We curate the art on the site with a keen eye on what consumers like you would like to see on the four walls of their home. We have spent the better part of the last few months, discovering new artists from India and abroad and adding their art to our online showcase. Each sale benefits the artists directly. The process of curation is a continuous process and we're always on the lookout for new talent. If you're an artist who would like to send us work for submissions, do email us at founders@crudearea.com with a link to your online portfolio. In the interest of keeping our inboxes fit and healthy, we request you to not send us hi-res file links to be downloaded.
  • I am an artist. Can I also exhibit my work on Crude Area?
    Sure! Drop us a line at founders@crudearea.comand we'll pick up the conversation from there.
  • Where else can I buy CrudeArea art in India?
    Nowhere else for now! We have special relationships with our artists, who give us the honor of presenting their most exciting works to you.

Prints

  • How are Crude Area prints made?
    Each Crude Area item is produced using the finest quality materials. Our artwork is printed on 100% acid free archival paper that is long lasting and durable. We use Max Premium Cotton canvas to produce outstanding quality canvas prints. We also use archival quality pigment inks that are eco-friendly and guarantee a stunning visual finish.
  • What are the different sizes available?
    Different prints are available in different sizes as mentioned below. While we try and maintain consistency in the actual paper/canvas area, sometimes there may be a slight difference in sizing depending on the orientation and dimensions of the original artwork.

  • Does the print area equal actual size of the image?
    No. We use standard paper sizes and all Crude Area art prints come with a 1cm plain white border.
  • Does Crude Area art look exactly like the images we see online?
    We work to ensure that the final artwork delivered to you, is as close in reproduction to the image you see on the site but while our computer screens are regulated for colour consistency and accuracy, all screens are not regulated. Because of this, colors and tones can vary greatly between two computers. It is possible that the art you receive may look slightly different than it did on your computer.
  • How do I care for my prints?
    If you are not immediately going to frame your art, we recommend storing it flat in a drawer or in their packaging, away from direct sun, heat and humidity. Avoid touching the surface of your print. Oils can be transferred to the print from your hands and rough treatment can scratch the surface and harm the pigment. We recommend that you frame your print as soon as possible as this will help to protect the work once it is on display. Keep Canvas prints away from direct sunlight & preferably indoors. As for art prints, we suggest that until the print goes for framing, avoid touching the print too often with your bare hands, as the white paper is likely to pick up dust and grime from its surroundings.

  • Is all Crude Area art framed?
    No. You can choose to purchase an art print that is not framed, or a framed print version of the same artwork. We also offer the choice of purchasing canvas prints.
  • Why should I go with Crude Area frames?
    Each sale on Crude Area benefits the artist directly. Happy artists make the world a happier place to be in. That said, the cost of our custom made frames is unbeatable. The frame size, color and matting are carefully selected to best present the artwork. All of our framing materials are archival and conservation-quality. Your art is expertly protected.

  • Are CrudeArea framing materials archival? Will my art be protected?
    Yes! Our frames are conservation-quality, which means that your art is protected from deterioration and environmental factors such as air pollution, heat, light and humidity. From the mounting to hidden elements like hinging tape and backing, all of the materials that come into contact with your art are acid-free and archival-they will not damage, deteriorate or discolor your art.
  • Where is CrudeArea art framed?
    Our frames are hand-built and assembled in Bombay by expert custom framers who are committed to quality.
  • Is art framed by Crude Area ready to hang?
    Yes. Each piece arrives with two keyholes at the backside already attached to allow for easy installation.
  • How should I hang my framed art?
    A single artwork or a row of artworks should be hung at eye level, which means that the center point of the frame(s) should be about 58" from the floor. When installing artwork over furniture, leave at least 8" between the base of the frame and the top of the furniture. Avoid hanging your artwork in direct sunlight.   • What if I'd like to frame my art myself?
    You can choose to order art prints instead of pre-framed art prints and get your prints framed from a local vendor. Crude Area employs the best artisans using the best materials available in the market using stringent quality controls & checks to ensure you never have a reason to complain.
  • How do I care for and clean my framed art?
    The most important thing in caring for your framed art is to avoid hanging it in direct sunlight. To clean your framed art, follow these special instructions: Remove dust by blowing; DO NOT brush it away with your hand or a dry cloth. If further cleaning is needed, DO NOT use a common household cleaner that contain ammonia, as these cleaners will damage the glass/ frame. Water and a soft, clean cloth should do the trick. Dry gently with a soft, lint-free cloth.

Copyright, Sharing & Distribution

  • Who owns the copyright or Creative Commons licenses at Crude Area?
    The artist who created the image controls all rights. Copyright law states that copyright is not transferred to the buyers of either prints or original artworks. Downloading the images from the website and printing without the consent of Artists and Crude Area violates the law. All the legal proceedings will take place in the courts of Mumbai.
  • Who owns the rights to Artwork once it's sold?
    According to the law, all the rights remain the artists even after the print is sold. The rights are not transferred to buyers. What this means is that while you are free to buy lots of lovely art, you cannot get these prints reprinted & resold without permission.

    Any commercial use of the artwork without prior permission would be in serious violation of the law and provides us with ample reason to issue a notice against copyright violators.
  • After buying the art, can I use it for books, magazines, advertisements, films or TV shows?
    Artwork bought on Crude Area cannot be reprinted, resold in any form of media as this would be a case of copyright infringement. Respect Intellectual Property, and the hard work that artists put into creating each of these pieces of art.

  • Can I unsubscribe from the Crude Area newsletter?
    Yes. We're sad to see you go, but if you absolutely must, click through the "Unsubscribe me" link found at the bottom right-hand corner of any email you receive from us. We're always working to refine and improve our communications with you, so if you have feedback you'd like to share, please be in touch.
  • Do I have to create a CrudeArea account to purchase art?
    No. We recommend creating an account to expedite your checkout process, but it is not required; you may make purchases as a guest.
  • How do I know my personal information is safe and secure?
    Your privacy and the security of your account are of the utmost importance to us. We will never share or sell your personal information. Our checkout process uses Secure HTTP/SSL, so your personal details are always sent to our servers over a secure connection.
  • Why can't I add items to my cart?
    This is likely happening because your browser has JavaScript turned off. The CrudeArea site requires JavaScript to be turned on in order to function. If you need help making sure JavaScript is turned on, please email us at contact@crudearea.com
  • I made a typo/error when I submitted my order or email address-how do I correct it?
    Email us at contact@crudearea.com and we can update your order or account.
  • Why does the site look wonky?
