Mridula Basak

Mridula Basak is a leather designer by vocation, currently based in Delhi. She has no formal training in illustration art, it was just something that she naturally gravitated towards as a child and continued her interest into her adulthood.

“My illustrations are a reflection of my personal experiences, emotions and my state of mind. I enjoy working with details and I am often inspired by the relationship between macro and micro forms in nature,” she explains.
Nature inspires her and a hot cup of masala chai gets her going. If you insist on being nosy, she will also reveal that she loves hot, spicy food and could do without the guilt that comes with indulging her love for eating.

If there’s one thing that she feels strongly about, it's the sense that there is a lot of un-imaginative art that sells in the name of mythological characters of gods and goddesses because she says she can’t understand how art gets confused with religion.
